San Jose 4 @ Montreal 0 (F)
Gorges proves why the Habs wish they had him now.
In a weird turn of events both teams decided not to trade Gorges for Rivet until after the season series. The first period was a tight period with no scoring. But just 36 seconds into the 2nd the Sharks took a bite out of Huet. Cheechoo broke in all alone and put it top shelf for his second goal of the season. San Jose's leading scoring, Smith, then added another with 5 minutes left in the period. The 3rd played out the same way as the 2nd as San Jose was able to pot 2 goals, including one by soon-to-be Gorges. The Sharks would go on to get the shutout, continueing the Canadiens offensive woes.
