Finals - Game 5, 6 and 7!!!!
A Champion is crowned...but who came out on top?!?!
I wasn't sure if OTH would still be able to post on here so I thought I would post all the games.
Game 5:
This would not be Broduers night. The game started off with both teams battleing to get the first goal. It would be Dallas who would strike first. Modano was left all alone in front and was able to do a little deke before he put it 5-hole. This would open the flood gates...not even a minute later Lindros was able to put another one 5-hole on Broduer to take a 2-0 lead going into the second. In the second Riberio would go 5-hole...and then Lehtinen scored 5-hole...then only 37 seconds into the third Morrow slid one 5-hole on Broduer...and then Modano would finish off the scoring for Dallas with a shot that beat Broduer.....short side. Jersey would get one to break the shutout with only 53 seconds left in the game, from a shot by Rasmussen that went by 4 Dallas defenders to go top shelf.
Final Score: Dallas 6 @ New Jersey 1
Stats:
Dal - NJ
25 shots 17
20 hits 37
3 Stars:
Modano 2 1
Morrow 1 1
Lehtinen 1 1
Game 6:
Dallas knew that they didn't want to let the Devils back into the series and wanted to end it at home...but the Devils had other plans, as they knew it was one more win or they were going home.
Again, neither team was able to get anything going early on, but it would be the Devils who would strike first. Gionta was able to finish a deke and go upstairs were Grandma keeps the cookies. It wouldn't be long before they would strike again as the Devils converted a pretty passing play to get the one-timer goal. The Devils would keep the pressure on and they dominated play and took the series to game 7.
Final Score: New Jersey 3 @ Dallas 0
OTH took down the stats so I'm unable to post them.
Game 7:
It couldn't have played out any better. The Stanley Cup finals...Game 7...The crowd wild...Both teams pumped up...The Stanley Cup waiting for a home!

This is what New Jersey played for the whole season...home ice advantage for a game 7. The crowd was electric at the Continental Airlines Arena and the streets were littered with fans waiting to party the night away. Modano stated during the pre-game skate, "This is what you picture when you are a little kid. Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals!". Elias was also interviewed during the pre-game skate and when asked about what he thought their chances were tonight answered, "We played hard during the regular season for this...for home ide advantage. We're not going to lay down and let them take that away from us".
The puck drops and the CAA goes crazy! But they would soon be silenced when only 1:04 into the game, Lehtinen skates into the Devil's zone and fakes the wrister, then fires it 5-hole to get the early lead. "That is exactly what we wanted to do", explained coach Critter, "We wanted to quiet the crowd and get the momentum on our side". Now that Dallas had the lead in game &, they would go into defense mode. They were successful until at the 9:02 mark Gionta was able to deke his way into the slot and get Turco going the other way, and put a nice back hand top shelf to tie the game.
In the second period Dallas would dominate the period and play a tight defensive game. Dallas would not allow a single shot during the period, after only letting 4 shots in the first period. Even though New Jersey would not get a shot in the second, they would play a great playoff period. Dallas would not be able to jump on any opportunities, as the Devils played an errorless period. The game would go into the third tied 1-1
During the intermission reports came out that coach OldTimeHockey was trying to keep his team focused on their game and laid down stradegies to keep his team in a playoff focused mode. Other reports surfaced that coach Critter was doing just the opposite. He was trying to fire up his team, and get them energized and excited that they had the chance to win the Cup. Who's stradegy would work?
The third period would start off like the second ended...Dallas preventing anything from reaching the net, and the Devils stopping any chance Dallas would have. But it wouldn't be long before Modano would crack Broduer. With a pass from the point, Modano was left wide open at the side of the net and was able to put home easy goal. Dallas was up 2-1 with 15 minutes left in the game. Both teams played perfect playoff hockey with two different stradegies. Dallas didn't want to give up too many shots, and New Jersey didn't want to give up any quality chances. The crowd tried many times to pump up their team, by starting chants and singing. But maybe because of coach OTH's "focus first" stradegy, the players weren't able to absorb the energy. With only 1:56 left to go in the game, Modano would deke out Broduer and put it in the far corner to seal the win!
As the time run down, people started leaving the CAA disapointed they would not see their team hoist the Cup. As the time ran down, the Dallas players could be seen jumping up and down, giving high fives, and hugging each other to celebrate the forthcoming victory. When the buzzer sounded the Dallas players fled onto the ice throwing their sticks and gloves in the air in excitement! The Dallas Stars have won the Stanley Cup!!! When asked what he plans to do now, Coach Critter replied, "I'm going to Disney World!!"

*Great Series OTH!! It really is a shame you were booted from GUG, I had nothing but fun playing against you and you were nothing but a class act! Everytime it seemed like I was going to take a commanding lead in the series, due to a blowout game, you would always come back and dominate the next game. Take care, I gotta go....my plane to Disney World leaves in 10 minutes!!
