So the top two seeds proved the regular season was not a fluke. The Devils showed their resilience by coming back from a 2-1 deficit in the first round to get by the Hawks. Then held more than their own against the highly touted Sharks even though they were outshot more than 2 to 1 in the series (109-52). The Stars battled through two tight series first the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 3-1 victory and then the annual carpet walk against the Edmonton Oilers where even though each game could of gone either way, the Stars prevailed as usual with a sweep.
