San Jose 2 @ Carolina 0

The Lag Monster eats another victim and new faces shine.

Just like the first game of the series, Lag was an issue. This time PaperNut was bit as he was the home team. (If PaperNut doesn't explain...I had bad lag as the home team in our first game).

With 3 loses in a row and a bunch of weak goals, Toskala was benched and Nabokov got the nod for this one. With the lag gone and now Papernut getting the lag, the San Jose sharks were a different team. They were able to get 15 shots on net (more than the previous game total) and only allow about 5. The heavy pressure would finally pay off in the second when a pass would fake out Ward and leave an empty net for Guerin to pot his first as a Shark.

Carolina was only able to get 13 shots, but played great defense and had a hot goalie to make up for the (lag driven) offensive woes. But just 2:13 into the 3rd Rivet was finally able to beat Ward again from a shot from the point to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead, which would be the last goal scored in the game. It would be Rivet's first as a Shark.

Lag played a huge role in this game (as IMO it did in the first game), and this can be verified by just looking at the stats.

Stats:
SJ - Car
25 shots 13
23 hits 32
23 face-offs 0
9:11 TOA 3:28

3 Stars:
Guerin 1 1
Ward 23 0
Nabokov 13 0

Scoring:
1st:
None
2nd:
SJ: Guerin - Bell
3rd:
SJ: Rivet - Guerin, Marleau

Good games PaperNut! Too bad we weren't able to have true competition because of the lag.
