After losing 3-0 at home to the hurricanes, the canucks were determined to make a better showing in the away game.

Willie Mitchell opened the scoring 8 minutes in with a long wrister that seemed to fool Ward, bouncing off his shoulder and rolling down his back and in. 10 minutes later, after a big scramble in front of the Hurricanes net, Matt Cooke banged in an ugly rebound that Ward had no chance on. In the second, the play was a bit more even, but the Canucks got another lucky bounce as Naslund put another one in to make it 3-0. The third period was uneventful, although both goalies made some great saves, and both teams came close, but there was no scoring.
