Edmonton 3 @ Toronto 0 (F)

Edmonton 3 @ Toronto 0 (F)

After a long hiatus, the second game of the home and home series was finally finished by the Maple Leafs and the Oilers. The Oilers showed some more jump as they came out flying early but could not solve a ready Raycroft even with a powerplay opportunity. However, with just under 3.5 minutes left in the first period, Joffrey Lupul wristed a shot that handcuffed the Leafs netminder and made it into the net. Both teams then exchanged penalties and mostly saw 4 on 4 action with great heroics by both goalies.
The Leafs came flying out in the second but the Oilers survived the wave of attacks and Ryan Smyth picked a corner short side while in all alone, rattling the inside of the post with just under 4 minutes into the second period. From then on in, it seemed like neitheer goalie would budge as both teams applied waves of pressur on their opposition for the next period and a half.
With just over 2 minutes left in the third and the Oilers 2 goalie cushion feeling precarious at best, the Oilers one a critical draw to the Daniel Tjarnqvist on the left point, who fed catpain Jason Smith who hammered a knuckle puck shot that somehow found the back of the net. And that is how Dwayne Roloson came away with his second 3-0 victory and survived a nite against the Leafs offensive powerhouse.
