New Jersey 3 - Carolina 0

Devils Net Back To Back Shutouts

The New Jersey Devils flew South to visit the Carolina Hurricanes in NHL action last night in hopes of getting revenge on the defending Stanley Cup Champions from their playoff ouster. Both teams came out strong and hard, but neither team would concede much room to skate freely. Early in the second period, Jamie Langenbrunner found himself alone in front of Cam Ward for a shorthanded tally and a 1-0 lead just 51 seconds into the stanza. John Madden was able to finish the period as well as it began with a goal of his own with just 14 seconds remaining in the period. The third period was a back and forth affair and Zach Parise was able to add to the score sheet to squash any sort of comeback Carolina was hoping for.
