New Jersey 1 - Toronto 0 (OT)

Devils Earn Second Straight Shutout

The New Jersey Devils played host to second place Toronto last night in hopes of catching up in the standings. Fans that attended the game were treated with a goaltending duel between hometown favorite Martin Brodeur and the Leaf's Andrew Raycroft. Toronto came out strong in all three periods, and the Devils were able to weather the storm. Play for the remainder of the game would go in spurts as both teams were able to successfully maintain pressure on the goal, but neither team could finish. Both teams were nervous enterring overtime in a scoreless draw, however the first mistake of the game was made by Mr. Raycroft, whom is still the unanimous team MVP despite this minor setback. With 39 seconds remaining in overtime and the dreaded shootout looming, Raycroft decided it would be better to move the puck than freeze for a faceoff. This turned out to be the devastating blow as Jamie Langenbrunner was able to pick off the pass and turn it into the game winner.

Toronto held a huge advantage in faceoff wins, but New Jersey held a huge advantage in hits.

An extremely tense and fun game to play. thanks Menace!
