Montreal 2 @ Ottawa 1 OT

It was a tight defensive battle in the nations capital as both teams defence units controlled much of the pace in the first home and home game. Montreal clung to a one goal lead early and looked much like they would shut down Ottawa's explosive offence until Wade Redden snuck one past Huet midway thru the 3rd.

Ottawa seemed to steal the moment with that, however the hard hustle of the Habs paid off as Kovalev managed to get a lucky bounce early in OT to give the Habs victory.
