Dallas 1 @ Calgary 0
Turco brings his A game.
The first meeting between these two teams proved to be a great one. It would be 5:46 into the first period when the Stars would strike. On a powerplay (It says it was a PP goal, but I don't remember it being on a PP??), Lindros was shovled the puck and sent in on a semi-breakaway. With the Calgary defence tight on his heels, he fired a shot from the left circle that beat Kipper 5-hole.
Moments later Halpern was sent in on a breakaway and was tripped up...and you know what that means! The most exciting play in hockey...the Penalty Shot! Halpern came in on Kipper determined to put his team up by 2 goals. Halpern had Kipper going one way, then the other, but Kipper stayed with Halpern and was able to make an incredible pad save to keep Calgary in it.
After an emotional speach by Lanny Macdonald during the 2nd intermission, the Flames came out flying. The Flames put a lot of pressure on Turco and the Stars' defencemens. But they weren't able to get the tieing goal. Dallas' defence first stradegy helped them keep the lead and win the game.
