Both teams had a long week of tiring games and visibly struggled through this contest. Goalies Ward and Fleury stood tall and strong as the two sharpest men on the ice. After an uneventful first period, LeClair of the Penguins struck first on a breakaway down the right side of Ward and slid it through a wide open 5-hole. Staal evened things up in the third with a blistering slapshot that Fleury never fully got a piece of as it trickled down his pads and across the goal line. Whitney proved to be the hero in overtime with a well-placed wristshot on a Penguins giveaway deep in their own zone.
