Blackhawks @ Stars
Chicago 3 Dallas 1
Hawks Grind Out Win to Halt Streak
After winning three games, the Blackhawks then dropped three games in a row against New Jersey (twice) and Dallas last night, so it was pleasing for GM eeedowls to see the team grind out a win away at the Stars last night - a feat the Hawks haven't achieved since the year 1342 (well, that's what it feels like).
The fact that it seemed as though it was more of a case of the Stars didn't didn't turn up for work rather than the Hawks all round game proving too much for them, but they were happy to take the two points and the win in Texas.
Martin Havlat opened the scoring in the first period as the Hawks outshot the Stars nine to four but the Stars equalised in the second while out shooting the Hawks nine to five. The Stars then forgot how to pass the puck and only managed to put two shots on goal in the third as first Radim Vrbata scored, then Turco passed the puck straight to a grateful Michal Handzus who wristed top shelf to seal the win.
Shots on Goal:
Chicago 20
Dallas 15
Three Stars:
1st. Martin Havlat
2nd. Michal Handzus
3rf. Tuomo Ruutu

Mikael Handzus isn't the only one grateful for the win against the Stars. ;)
That isn't a nice thing to say OTH, lol :) Yeah, I have a feeling I won't be at the top anymore once OTH and Menace finish off more of their games.
Great games eeedowls! I'm sure it was your pressure defence that made me miss all those passes.
Yeah Critter, I was only teasing, as I'm sure you realize since you put in the LOL.
Any time you want to take a mulligan on those two early season games against the Devils, you let me know. ;)
I'll use the old hockey cliche here: we're playing for home ice advantage which is very important and will allow us to gain the matchups we want, but you've gotta be in it to win it. I could care less where I finish, as long as I make it to the second season. Look at Edmonton (in real life). 8th seed almost took the cup. As far as I'm concerned, anyone can take it and regular season means nothing (although I wouldn't mind hanging a regular season championship banner to go along with the Presidents Trophy).
