The Leafs took the red-eye flight to Chicago to play the Blackhawks in the 2nd of the home and home series between these two Original 6 rivals.

Paul Maurice's squad came out fast and kept up the pressure on Chicago and Khabibulin all game. Early in the first, Jeff O'Neill rifled a one-timer on a perfect Mats Sundin setup in front to put the Leafs up 1-0. The 2nd period started much like the 1st, with Kyle Wellwood sliding a backhand past Khabibulin to give the Leafs a 2 goal lead, Mike Peca and Alex Ponikarovsky picking up the assists.

The Leafs went up 3-0 on a soft goal, Alex Steen lobbed one at Khabibulin from the side boards that bounced off the Hawk goalie and over his head into the net.

Radim Vrbata cut the Toronto lead to 2 late on a gorgeous one-timer, Martin Havlat picked up the assist.

The Leafs win 3-1, improving their GUGHL record to 12-2. Remarkably, the Leafs won all 18 faceoffs in the game.
