The Sharks savaged the BlackHawks at the United Center with a dominating display from start to finish. The Hawks tried desparately to initiate some offense but a huge checking display from San Jose's blue line meant the Hawks were left with nothing to show from their meagre effort. Jonathan Cheechoo opened the scoring on a one timer in the first before ex BlackHawk Mark Bell doubled the advantage not long after. A dominating display was capped with Mike Grier completing the scoring for the Sharks before 4th line grinder Matt Keith scored a consolation goal for the Hawks with .42 seconds left on the clock.
