New Jersey Devils 4 - Ottawa Senators 0
Brodeur Silences The Senators
East Rutherford, NJ
Associated Press
The Martin Brodeur show continued in Continental Airlines Arena as he was able to blank the Ottawa Sentators by a score of 4-0.
All fans in attendance were given a replica mini-Brodeur goalie helmet as they enterred the building.
The first period started off friendly enough as neither team could seem to muster any momentum until the Devils Jason Weimer struck the back of the net at 18:57. The horn sounded for the end of the period, but New Jersey did not seem to take notice as they came hard and often to start the second period. Patrik Elias followed up his own rebound at 2:44 and John "Mad Dog" Madden added an unassisted tally off of a turnover in front of "the other" Martin...Martin Gerber. The third period was ferociously contested as New Jersey looked to protect the lead and hit anything in sight. Little Brian Gionta was able to slip in behind the defense to close out the scoring at 9:44.
Frustrated, the Senators vowed revenge in their next game.
