Dallas' home opener proved to be what the fans were hoping for. The fans were electric to see their team on the ice and to see the Big E in the Big D.
The first period proved to be an exciting period with bigs hits and lots of quality chances that kept the fans on their feet. Both the fans and the Dallas players knew they would have to play some quality hockey if they were going to have a chance against this winning team.
Early in the second period Lehtonen burried the puck for his first goal of the season. Shortly after, Lindros potted his first goal for the Stars and the crown went wild. The second period was even more intense than the first, with bigger hits and more chances for both teams, and especially for New Jersey who ended up with 50 Hits.
The tone in the third period was similar, with both teams working hard to get the 2 points. Lehtinen was able to shovel in two more goals for the hat trick to guarntee the win for the stars.
Turco was able to stand on his head throughout the game saving all 24 shots. It could have easily gone the other way if Turco didn't have a MVP preformance.
"I was surprised with how well Turco played", stated Coach Critter, "Hopefully he can keep it going through the whole season". With the win, the Stars were ready to get on the plane and head to Jersey, where they would finish up their home and home.
