Leafs @ Canucks
The back end of the home and home series between Vancouver and Toronto was a tight one, with Vancouver coming out hard in the 1st and getting a couple great scoring chances, both by Henrik Sedin, with Andrew Raycroft coming up big both times. The second period was a snoozefest by all accounts, with only 4 shots between both teams.
The third started out with some hard shots and big checks, Markus Naslund had an early chance only to be stymied by Raycroft. On the other end, Darcy Tucker and Matt Stajan had glorious opportunities to put the Leafs up only to have Roberto Luongo show why he's one of the best backstops in the league.
About 8 minutes into the third controversy struck...a very close offside call that went the Leafs way set up Mats Sundin on a breakaway from the blueline, a beautiful forehand to backhand deke fooled Roberto Luongo, and Sundin tucked it in the open side to put the Leafs up 1-0. From there the Canucks started to take over, only to be frustrated again and again by Raycroft. Markus Naslund had the best Canuck chance with about 7 minutes left in the game, taking a pass from Brendan Morrison and clanging it off the post. The Canucks were not able to get any chances in the final 90 seconds and the Leafs hung on.
